I'm clueless...

Hello everyone! The first and foremost thing that you all should know is that I'm clueless when it comes to knowing how to work the backend stuff for this blog. As I'm writing this in the draft section I can only hope the later I'll be able to get back to it and eventually post it for people to see.

Secondly, you should know...I am by no means a professional writer and this is the first time I've ever done anything like this for people to see. Along with not being a professional writer - I am also NOT an English major. So I'll have run on sentences, terrible punctuation, misuse of words like 'there - their', etc. so please bare with me and please don't let me know about my every mistake. The point here is to share some coaching stories, knowledge, and help grow the game and to help others in the same profession.

So why the blog? To be perfectly honest, never in a million years did I ever imagine myself as someone who would write a blog or to even be the type that put myself out there like this. That was until about a month ago when I was walking and talking with the parent of one of the players on my 10u select baseball team. As the father and I walked between skills competition events on opening day of our "World Series" (we will have a discussion about why I put the WS in quotes in another blog post as it will be plenty long enough for it's own section) I mentioned that part of the reason I still coached after 25+ years was that at times I feel obligated to coach. What I mean is...I see a lot of people - well intentioned as they may be - coaching that just aren't knowledgable enough or do not know how to get their message across correctly or whatever it may be that just don't live up to the standard in my opinion. Personally, I feel like I've been given a gift to be able to get players to the next level (again I'll explain this in another post). I feel obligated to share that gift and my knowledge about the game with as many people as possible and for me to "quit" just because it's tougher now days with how society is would be an injustice to those who I could help. When I mentioned that, this parent said to me "you know it's funny you say that my wife and I were just talking about how she thought you should start a blog about your baseball journey and coaching kids and you and your son's baseball experience. We thought the blog would be a great way for you to share your thoughts and to help others."

Well, that seemingly unimportant conversation really got me started thinking. Maybe they were right? Maybe a blog would be a great way to help pass along the knowledge and experiences and thoughts I have on the game of baseball and coaching in general so here we are today. Me rambling on about why I'm doing this and what I hope it does as time goes on.

So here we are - me trying to figure all this out and about to start this journey hoping that even one person takes the time to read it and maybe learn from it. If you have questions or want me to comment on something let me know I'll try to work it into this format. Thank you for taking the time to read!
